2. I bought my Bolt Mini-Velo from QX in a Muji store! Of all places. Ascent Bikes ran a special program with Muji to commemorate their new store opening, and there was a gorgeous Muji-Green version of the Bolt Mini-Velo for sale. I have been looking for a light weight bike for some time already, and at 8+kg plus the clean design lines, this ticked all the boxes for me. There was a slight smudge on the matt frame due to transportation issues, and QX personally came down to my place the very next day to take a look, immediately offered to arrange for return of the bike and a full replacement of the frame. All this was done within a matter of days, as he wanted me to be able to start enjoying the bike over the weekend. Amazing, personable service. The ride was comfortable, the bike was quick, nimble and responsive without being too twitchy despite the slightly smaller wheels compared to my regular sized bike. It was really fun to ride. Happy to have supported a local business with a great product and wonderful customer service.

3. I’ve been eyeing the Ascent Polaris 42 since Q4 of 2023 and now that I finally got my hands on a pair, it truly did not disappoint. It was introduced to me by QX when I bought my bike for a change of hydraulic brakes, he really sold it tbf. Now that I’ve ridden it for a while there truly is a difference between what I rode before which was a stock alloy wheels. It was more responsive, it’s light enough for the Singapore hills and the most obvious difference was how it took cross winds, you can barely feel it. It was surprisingly comfortable as well due to their wide internal width which may look bulky but I feel it makes a bike look more aero as well. For a local brand I would say it’s up to par with some of the higher end market brands.
