1. If I were in the U.S., I would gladly tip at this place. The service was great, the food was even better. One of the few Korean places in SG where the staff will introduce each banchan as they place it, cook your meat, and recommend dipping sauces to go along. Highlights of the meal are definitely the flying fish roe rice balls and the seafood soondubu stew. You even get a free Haagen-Dazs ice cream at the end of your meal, no strings attached. Thank you for an enjoyable meal!

2. My first experience from a extremely polite restaurant. I ordered beef and pork, beef came, pork never did. I asked few times, waitress said to me it is coming, buy never did after 30min, i did not complain and asked to cancel the pork and give mr the bill. Cashier came to ask if the pork really never comes? i firmly replied. She came back telling me my lunch is free ! That’s the way they compensate for their mistake! How generous is that ! Pls support this restaurant!

3. Visited last weekend for a late lunch. We picked a set and added a kimchi omelette and a portion of pork neck/ collar. Three of us barely managed to finish! There are a lot of sides which are yum. First time I had the rice cakes and they are my new favourite 🙂 The kimchi omelette was really good. The meat was all nicely cooked and we had a nice meal!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The price of a Korean BBQ meal in the Tanjong Pagar area can vary widely, but it generally offers great value for the quality and experience. For an à la carte meal focusing on specific cuts of meat, you can expect to spend around $40 to $60 per person, especially if you’re ordering premium cuts or drinks like soju.

For those who prefer a wider variety and a free-flow dining experience, many restaurants offer buffet options, which typically range from $30 to $50 per person. These buffets usually include a selection of different marinated and unmarinated meats, as well as a variety of side dishes.

Given Tanjong Pagar’s reputation as a “Little Korea” and its popularity among locals and expatriates, making a reservation is highly recommended. The restaurants, particularly the highly-regarded ones, tend to be very crowded, especially during weekend dinner times and on public holidays. Arriving without a booking often means a long queue and a wait time of up to an hour or more.

To ensure you get a table at your preferred time, it’s best to book your table in advance, ideally a few days ahead for a large group.

Korean BBQ menus are centered around a variety of meats, with popular choices including pork belly (samgyeopsal) and beef short ribs (galbi). You can also find marinated chicken and a selection of seafood. A key part of the dining experience is the array of banchan, or complimentary side dishes, that are served. These typically include kimchi, pickled radishes, and various vegetable salads. Most establishments offer unlimited refills on their banchan, which is a generous tradition that allows you to enjoy a complete and balanced meal.

This is a common question, and the answer can vary by restaurant. In many of the most popular and high-quality Korean BBQ places, the staff will take care of the grilling for you. They will bring the raw meat to your table and cook it to perfection, slicing it into bite-sized pieces so it’s ready to eat.

This service is a major draw for many diners as it ensures the meat is cooked properly and allows you to focus on enjoying the meal and the company. However, some casual or buffet-style restaurants may allow you to grill your own food.

The atmosphere at a Korean BBQ restaurant in Tanjong Pagar is typically lively, vibrant, and a little smoky from the grilling. It’s a very social and communal dining experience, making it an excellent choice for group gatherings with friends, family, or colleagues. The tables are usually equipped with a grill and a robust exhaust fan, but it’s still a good idea to wear clothes that are easy to wash afterwards. The communal nature of cooking and sharing food fosters a fun and interactive environment that is perfect for a great meal.
