Tucked discreetly between two shophouses on Emerald Hill, Alleybar is a rare find that blends heritage with contemporary cocktail craftsmanship. Established in 1999, it is one of Singapore’s oldest heritage bars, drawing inspiration from the surrounding Peranakan enclave. Inside, the space feels intimate and nostalgic, filled with authentic artefacts once displayed at the former Peranakan Museum. The cocktail menu pays homage to Nyonya flavours, weaving ingredients like pandan, gula melaka, and spice blends into refined modern drinks. Paired with Peranakan-inspired bar bites, Alleybar offers a uniquely local drinking experience rooted in culture and history.
1. I absolutely loved the atmosphere at Alley Bar, such a cosy and vibrant place to unwind. We had a great time, and a big part of that was thanks to our warm and engaging hostess, MJ. She made us feel so welcomed throughout the night, recommended drinks, and checked in with us regularly. Highly recommend this place, especially if you’re lucky enough to be served by MJ! 🍸✨
2. The food and service are fantastic! They even prepared complimentary birthday and anniversary drinks for us. They knew I can’t take alcohol, so they made a non-alcoholic version for me. Highly recommended — the place and environment are excellent!
3. Amazing ambience. Great service. Classic styled bar with leather chairs. Almost a mix of steampunk and Harry Potter. Nice discovery. Great whiskey selection

Cocktails
1. If you’re into hidden bars with a cool vibe, The Other Room is definitely worth checking out. It’s tucked away inside the Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, literally behind an unmarked door, just finding the entrance already feels like part of the fun. Speaking of drinks, the cocktails here are really good. It’s the kind of place where you try something new and end up thinking, “Okay wow, this is actually amazing” especially their K-spot! That one is my favorite ❤️ The staff are really welcoming and knowledgeable — they’re happy to guide you through their extensive drinks list! Genuine hospitality is evident. The Other Room is really a must when you go 🇸🇬 ☺️
2. A sign-less door and a discreet switch are all it takes to enter this speakeasy, and once you’re in, it’s a whole vibe. Low lighting, scribbled walls, and even your name on the table set the tone immediately. The drinks are creative and fun, definitely not your usual cocktails but still well-balanced and genuinely tasty. The table snacks were surprisingly good too and paired well with the drinks. I’ve already been back since, and I’ll definitely be returning for more.
3. This bar is hidden behind a discreet door in Tangs Marriott hotel which was cool. We were treated with a complementary coffee martini when seated and it was good. The cocktails were interesting and each came with its own design and decoration . Overall a fun experience.

Once hidden in a basement and now proudly visible at Millenia Walk, The Horse’s Mouth has evolved while staying true to its craft cocktail roots. Founded in 2012, it played a key role in shaping Singapore’s bespoke cocktail scene. Today, the bar operates as a lively gastrobar, pairing its signature made-to-measure drinks with bold, grill-focused dishes meant for sharing. The intimate 31-seat space feels warm and relaxed, enhanced by contemporary art from Filipino artists Jayson Oliveria and Nilo Ilarde. If you’re looking for a bar near Orchard that balances creativity, comfort, and flavour, this is a solid pick.
1. shoutout to kelvin and johan for the impeccable service and recommendations! everything from the cocktails to the food was fantastic! we especially loved the croquettas, which was very crispy with generous fillings. the wagyu okonomiyaki was really good too! we had the skewers platter and while i personally wasn’t a big fan of the beef heart, the chicken was the standout amongst the three, with the pork belly being delicious too. the pollo fritto with the dipping sauce was excellent, and honestly i would come back just for that dish and the croquettas! we definitely will be back to try the other items on the menu as well as the very nice cocktails too.
2. Cozy bar with a great selection of cocktails. Portions are on the smaller side, but the food is delicious. Service was prompt, though food came out a bit slow at first but sped up later. Cocktails were the highlight! Prices are on the higher side considering the portion size, but overall still a nice spot to unwind.
3. Was here with my significant other yesterday. We got off the menu drinks from this bespoke bar. Johan and Calvin were great mixologists! Their unnamed cocktail and mocktail for myself and my misses were incredible and unforgettable in both taste and experience. Place has a very classy feel. Great for dates. 10/10 would recommend!

The Backdrop is the bold realisation of master bartender Dario Knox’s lifelong vision, pushing mixology far beyond tradition. A four-time Asia’s 50 Best Bars and World’s 50 Best Bars honouree, Knox introduces “Percolated Cocktails,” a revolutionary technique that removes shakers, ice, and barspoons entirely. Inspired by ancient elixir-making and 19th-century extraction methods, every drink is built through meticulous botanical percolation. The result is a deeply layered, precisely balanced cocktail experience unlike anything else. From concept to execution, this bar in Orchard challenges centuries-old norms, positioning itself as a global milestone in modern cocktail innovation.
1. A true hidden gem with an amazing speakeasy vibe, right from the cool, secret entrance. The service was top-notch—friendly and knowledgeable staff who are passionate about their craft. While the food was a delicious surprise, the cocktails are the real star here. The selection is massive, and every drink we tried was an absolute masterpiece of flavour and presentation. I think this might just be the best cocktail bar I have been to (and I’ve visited a lot!). This is a must-visit for some of the best cocktails in Singapore. We’ll definitely be back!
2. Staff knows their cocktail well, service are top notch. Like their unique 90s retro style, very cozy. Cocktails mix are very well blend, if you are a cocktail person, definitely should try!
3. In my opinion and my personal experience, I would say The Backdrop is the best bar I’ve ever visited in Singapore. Beautifully decorated behind the hidden door, keep giving me surprises. The environment is cozy and the staffs there are very friendly. They don’t just take your order and walk away but they stay and engage with each table, sharing the stories behind the inspiration of the bar and also the carefully created cocktails. Definitely worth the visit and I will definitely visit again!
