Business Reviews:

1. I absolutely loved the atmosphere at Alley Bar, such a cosy and vibrant place to unwind. We had a great time, and a big part of that was thanks to our warm and engaging hostess, MJ. She made us feel so welcomed throughout the night, recommended drinks, and checked in with us regularly. Highly recommend this place, especially if you’re lucky enough to be served by MJ! 🍸✨

2. The food and service are fantastic! They even prepared complimentary birthday and anniversary drinks for us. They knew I can’t take alcohol, so they made a non-alcoholic version for me. Highly recommended — the place and environment are excellent!

Business Reviews:

1. If you’re into hidden bars with a cool vibe, The Other Room is definitely worth checking out. It’s tucked away inside the Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, literally behind an unmarked door, just finding the entrance already feels like part of the fun. Speaking of drinks, the cocktails here are really good. It’s the kind of place where you try something new and end up thinking, “Okay wow, this is actually amazing” especially their K-spot! That one is my favorite ❤️ The staff are really welcoming and knowledgeable — they’re happy to guide you through their extensive drinks list! Genuine hospitality is evident. The Other Room is really a must when you go 🇸🇬 ☺️

2. A sign-less door and a discreet switch are all it takes to enter this speakeasy, and once you’re in, it’s a whole vibe. Low lighting, scribbled walls, and even your name on the table set the tone immediately. The drinks are creative and fun, definitely not your usual cocktails but still well-balanced and genuinely tasty. The table snacks were surprisingly good too and paired well with the drinks. I’ve already been back since, and I’ll definitely be returning for more.

3. This bar is hidden behind a discreet door in Tangs Marriott hotel which was cool. We were treated with a complementary coffee martini when seated and it was good. The cocktails were interesting and each came with its own design and decoration . Overall a fun experience.

Business Reviews:

1. shoutout to kelvin and johan for the impeccable service and recommendations! everything from the cocktails to the food was fantastic! we especially loved the croquettas, which was very crispy with generous fillings. the wagyu okonomiyaki was really good too! we had the skewers platter and while i personally wasn’t a big fan of the beef heart, the chicken was the standout amongst the three, with the pork belly being delicious too. the pollo fritto with the dipping sauce was excellent, and honestly i would come back just for that dish and the croquettas! we definitely will be back to try the other items on the menu as well as the very nice cocktails too.

2. Cozy bar with a great selection of cocktails. Portions are on the smaller side, but the food is delicious. Service was prompt, though food came out a bit slow at first but sped up later. Cocktails were the highlight! Prices are on the higher side considering the portion size, but overall still a nice spot to unwind.

3. Was here with my significant other yesterday. We got off the menu drinks from this bespoke bar. Johan and Calvin were great mixologists! Their unnamed cocktail and mocktail for myself and my misses were incredible and unforgettable in both taste and experience. Place has a very classy feel. Great for dates. 10/10 would recommend!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Upscale venues: Hotel bars, rooftop lounges, and cocktail-focused establishments generally enforce a smart casual dress code. This means collared shirts or blouses, tailored pants or skirts, and closed-toe shoes. Men should avoid singlets, flip-flops, and gym attire, while women are expected to dress neatly, often in dresses or chic separates.
  • Relaxed pubs & alfresco spots: Along Orchard Road’s side streets and shophouse-style bars, the atmosphere is more laid-back. Casual wear such as bermudas, jeans, and t-shirts is acceptable, especially in outdoor settings.
  • Pro tip: If you’re unsure, dress slightly above casual. A polo shirt or simple dress with sandals is usually safe. Some venues may deny entry if attire is deemed too sloppy, especially on weekends.
  • High-demand nights: Fridays and Saturdays are peak periods, especially at cocktail lounges, hotel bars, and themed venues. Reservations are strongly recommended to avoid long waits.
  • Small groups vs. large groups: Walk-ins for two people are sometimes possible, but groups of four or more should book at least 2–3 days in advance.
  • Special occasions: For birthdays, anniversaries, or festive seasons (Christmas, New Year’s Eve), reservations may need to be made weeks ahead.
  • Tip: Many bars now allow online booking via their websites or platforms like Chope and OpenTable, making it easy to secure a spot.
  • Standard timing: Most Orchard bars begin Happy Hour around 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM, ending by 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM.
  • Extended promotions: Shophouse-style or casual pubs sometimes stretch deals until 9:00 PM, and certain venues even run “all-night Happy Hour” on quieter weekdays like Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
  • Types of deals: Expect discounts on draft beers, house wines, and selected cocktails. Some places also offer buy-one-get-one-free promotions or special prices on bottles.
  • Tip: Check social media pages of bars, as promotions often change monthly or seasonally.

Yes, absolutely: Orchard is home to several speakeasy-style bars that are intentionally tucked away.

Where to look:

  • Behind unmarked doors in luxury hotels.
  • In basements of older shopping malls.
  • Disguised behind shopfronts that appear to be retail stores or offices during the day.

Experience factor: These bars often emphasize exclusivity, with themed interiors, unique cocktails, and a sense of discovery.

Tip: Some require knowing a password or spotting subtle signage. Word-of-mouth, local blogs, or Instagram are the best ways to uncover them.

  • Legal baseline: The drinking age in Singapore is 18 years old, and most bars will allow entry at that age with a valid government-issued ID (NRIC, passport, or driver’s license).
  • Venue-specific rules: Higher-end clubs, rooftop lounges, and certain hotel bars may impose stricter age limits, often 21 or even 25 years old, especially on weekends or event nights.
  • Enforcement: Security staff at Orchard venues are generally strict. Always carry your ID, as random checks are common.
  • Tip: If you’re planning to visit multiple venues in one night, check their age policies beforehand to avoid being turned away.
