1. Gyushi @ The Star Vista

Among the top Queenstown Japanese food spots, Gyushi @ The Star Vista stands out for offering a variety of delectable rice bowls. Renowned for their truffle wagyu beef bowl, which is seasoned to perfection and served hot, Gyushi ensures a satisfying meal every time. The umami-rich beef, quick service, and friendly staff make it a must-visit. With affordable prices, regular bowls start at $10.80, and large ones at $12.80. Their mentaiko chicken karaage and grilled chicken are also noteworthy, with the slight burnt taste from the blow torch adding a unique flavour. Don’t miss their roast beef bowl, a popular and delicious choice.
Business Reviews:
1. Truly the best beef bowl I’ve tried. Beef is well seasoned and portion is just nice. If it’s not enough for you you can always add more beef if you want! I’ve tried all flavours but truffle wagyu beef bowl is by far my favourite. Everything is prepared in front of you and served hot. Highly recommended to come here and try it for yourself 👍🏽
2. The beef bowl was full of umami. Quick service and friendly staff. The large bowl with double portions of beef was sufficient for two pax.
3. The food is affordable by jap food standard. Regular bowls are at $10.80 and the large ones at $2 more. I had the mentaiko chicken karaage. The mentaiko sauce tasted like sour mayonnaise to me, probably because the tobbiko or ebikko was at the side. Overall it tasted decent though. We also ordered the grilled chicken and also upsized gyudon. They were also off decent standard. Large size portion was very good. The set costs $3.90 more and comes with a small bowl of salad and a drink. They bothered to flambe their chicken and beef with a blow torch for the slightly burnt taste and that’s a plus for me. Next time I’ll probably try the spicy mentaiko wagyu beef bowl. Worth a visit if you’re near Star Vista!
Update: Finally got to try their roast beef bowl, it’s always out of stock when I come but last Friday I got to try it. The beef is thinly sliced and cooked just right. The sauces and mustard were delicious. Highly recommend this and again it is good value for money. 👍👍👍

1. Came here for dinner buffet on a Friday night for $48.90++ per pax and it’s totally worth it! The quality of the food is amazing, the sashimi were fresh, the tempura is made to order and even the takoyaki were piping hot. The menu is extensive with grilled dishes, side dishes, nigiri, hand rolls, noodles and rice dishes. Hot or cold green tea (refillable) is also included in the price. You can add on other desserts or drinks at additional costing. The service is quick and even though there weren’t many staff, they were attentive and cleared our tables very quickly. Will def return.
2. Good and fresh food. Good varieties of choice. Portion is small which is good as we were having the buffet, so we can taste it before ordering more. Service is excellent. The chinese waitress (Joanne…hope I got it right) who serves us is very friendly and accomodating. Another waitress (MiMi) who served us, is also very attentive and polite. Overall, a great dining experience. Thank you.
3. The best affordable jap buffet. Have tried many other places ard the same price range and Kumo is the best option in terms of variety with grilled food and noodles options. Extremely fresh sashimi and a great deal especially during your birthday month!
